Situated at 17th Street just south of Gramercy Park, THE INN AT IRVING PLACE is in the heart of one of New York's most historic neighborhoods. The quiet tree-lined streets are famous for their landmarked architecture as well as the many authors who lived in, and were inspired by, the neighborhood.

The nearby National Arts Club, Chelsea Hotel and Pete's Tavern all figured into the lives and works of many of the most prominent American writers of the 19th and 20th Centuries. Edith Wharton, Nathaniel West, S.J. Perlman, William Dean Howells, O.Henry, Herman Melville and Stephen Crane all lived in the neighborhood.
